For 2025 and year four & Issue Four - we will be holding three Contests! Also, please note that it is often a misconception that we want food themed work; however, this is not the case.
The Nano & Micro Contest for Women Writers
This contest is requiring a three-dollar (3.00 USD) entry fee and only open to women writers. If you cannot afford the fee, please let us know and we can waive it. Our first year we held a women's writing contest and brought it back. There will be one winner for Poetry, Fiction, and Creative Nonfiction. Each winner will receive $100.00 USD for their winning piece and have their work featured on merch of a local business in the food and beverage industry. We are collaborating with local businesses to put this on. The judges are a mystery group from said industry as well. Works must be original and not assisted with the use of AI and unpublished. Poetry may not exceed more than 14 lines (a sonnet is as long as it may be), and prose pieces must not be more than 200 words. Submit up to six poems max, and two pieces of prose if doing F or CNF. Submit entry as a word doc, in Times New Roman font size 12, and include a cover letter and third person bio. E-mail these items to Colin at managingeditortf@gmail.com. Contest opens November 12th, 2024 and closes March 1st, 2025. Food and beverage employees are a set of mystery judges this year.
The Fifty & Up Writer Awards
This contest is fee-free and only open to writers aged fifty and up. There will be one winner for Poetry, Fiction, and Creative Nonfiction. Each winner will receive $1.00 USD for each year of age. Works must be original and not assisted with the use of AI and unpublished. Poems should not exceed more than two pages, and prose pieces should be between 500 - 2,000 words. Submit up to five poems max, and one piece of prose if doing F or CNF. Submit entry as a word doc, in Times New Roman font size 12, and include a cover letter and third person bio. E-mail these items to Colin at managingeditortf@gmail.com. Contest opens November 12th, 2024, and closes January 1st, 2025. The finalist judges are a returning judge, Camille Kenney over Fiction; Leila Merrill over Creative Nonfiction (one of our poetry co-editors); and winner of last year's major contest in Poetry - Steven Schwei over Poetry.
The Translations Prizes in Poetry & Prose
This contest is our rotating major contest that focuses on translations in literature. There is a five-dollar (5.00 USD) entry fee; however, if you need a waiver - we can help. All translations must be original and unpublished and not assisted with AI. For poetry, you may submit up to five poems and their translations. For prose, just one work and its translation. Poems should not exceed one to two pages, be in size 12 font Times New Roman, and in a word doc. Prose should be no more than 500-2,000 words, be in size 12 font Times New Roman, and in a word doc.
